Holiday lets and a night at Lewis Moody’s

airbnb (2)

One of the things we’ve seen a noticeable upturn in is people wanting to use their homes for holiday lets and AirBnB. It’s been well documented in the press that this is now something of a global boom however we are for the first time seeing it trickle down to buyer considerations. And why not, with property prices being at such a premium any way your home can work for you has to be an advantage.

A few of things to consider though:-

  1. If you’re buying a flat make sure that you are not falling foul of any covenants in your lease that prohibit holiday lets.
  2. If you are buying with the intention of letting rooms or the whole property to tourists consider whether it is in a location they want to be in.
  3. Consider your proximity to services and transport connections.

Or really give your visitors a reason to stay…

With the Rugby World Cup round the corner, and being held in England, 2003 world cup winner Lewis Moody has taken the unusual step of renting out his own home on AirBnB. With a few unusual house rules (including no Welsh or All Black shirts) and the offer of some training in the garden, this seems a snip at £150 a night.
