Our favourite winter recipe – Mulled Sloe Gin

As some of you may know we regularly send out flyers containing some of our favourite recipes. Past favourites have included spicy pulled pork, pumpkin soup and courgette cake. One of the most popular was the mulled sloe gin recipe we sent out last year, so its back by popular demand. This straightforward winter warmer is ideal to welcome friends and family in from the cold at any gathering. Below is the recipe. And don’t forget our Christmas offer, book a valuation in January and we will reduce our fee by 25% if you sell in 2018.

Ingredients:

1 litre of cloudy apple juice
200ml of water
5 whole star anise
3 whole cinnamon sticks
12 cloves
5 cardamon pods
Ribbons of zest from half an orange
A good quality sloe gin

Method:

Preparation time: 20-40 minutes

Pour the apple juice and water into
a large saucepan, place on the hob and set on a low heat.

Add the orange zest and spices –
these can be easily adapted to suit your taste, we crammed ours full
of festive flavours.

Cover and leave to gently simmer
for a minimum of 20 minutes. The longer you wait the more flavour
you will get from the spices.

Pour a healthy shot of sloe gin into suitable glasses – place a teaspoon
in the glass to conduct some of the heat and stop the glass from
shattering – and ladle in the mulled apple juice.

Serve with a twist of orange peel
and plenty of cheer.
