Q XI cricket match supporting Rockinghorse

Q XI 2015

Last Sunday saw the Q XI take to the field again, and this year in support of Rockinghorse Children’s Charity.

As usual Waldron CC demonstrated the difference in standard between a regularly-playing village team and the Q part-timers but in no way were we completely outclassed. Despite a courageous knock of 79 from Guy Walsh, alongside a useful cameo from Tom Barnett, we were always up against it in chasing down a total of 249. Truthfully the match was lost in the field with some frankly catastrophic bowling (no names – Jim), and some fairly inept catching. Although an honourable mention should go to Jeremy Long for taking two wickets in his first two overs of cricket – ever.

All-in-all the day was a huge success with close to £500 (and counting) being raised for this amazing charity. A huge thank you to Waldron CC for once again hosting us and for being such good sports. They also helped to raise a good chunk of the money through a series of on-field fines. We would also like to thank The Star at Waldron for laying on a good spread for the teams post-match, Tim Page-Ratcliff for umpiring throughout, and all the loyal supporters who came along to the cheer the team.

The Q XI 2015 – James Beale; Bret Stevenson; Jeremy Long; Guy Walsh; David Aspey; Jose Quintana; Tom Barnett; Dan Lewis; Jim Quintana (c); Paul O’Sullivan; Steve Wickham.
